CENTRE FOR RESEARCH

CENTRE FOR RESEARCH

Centre for Research (CFR), formally instituted in 2019, is dedicated to cater to the immense passion for research amongst our faculty and students. It provides research opportunities to undergraduate students and encourages the development of research-based pedagogy. For this, CFR carries out major programmes i.e. the Summer Internship Program (SIP) and Annual Research Projects (ARP). Summer Internship Programme is carried out in the months of May-July every year wherein students under the guidance of faculty carry out two month projects in the college. It has put in place a systematic and a rigorous process of laying foundations for the programme : CFR conducts an orientation programme for mentors and mentees before the project proposals are invited, to brief them about how the CFR works and guide the students to choose the problem they can work on.

What is distinctive is that the SIP is conducted around a theme of contemporary relevance . Project proposals are invited on that theme. This brings about a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and intensive engagement with a phenomenon and helps the students to obtain a holistic understanding of the theme. The proposals are invited in the months of March-April and are then sent for review to the subject experts. After review, the projects are selected based on the reviewer comments and the selected projects are carried out in the summer break. After completion, students submit project reports to CFR. The project reports are again sent for evaluation to external subject matter experts. After evaluation, the students present the results of their projects before external jury members. The combined score of reviewers and external jury is considered for final results of the competition. The Summer Internship Program provides opportunities to conduct pilot projects in the college that can be later extended to annual projects, carried out under CFR, or the projects can be applied for funding from various agencies like UGC, DBT, DST, ISSR etc.

Annual Research Projects have been introduced by CFR since 2020. This program is tailored for those faculty and students who want to actively pursue research activities throughout the year. It helps in executing the experiments or projects which are not possible during a short period of 2 months during summer break.

CFR also organizes Training Workshops for students and faculty. The workshops aim to familiarize the participants with the basics of research methodology and technical report writing. The workshops have interactive question and answer sessions to address their queries.

In the year 2020, CFR embarked on a new venture in the form of a multidisciplinary, peer reviewed and open access e-journal. The e-journal is titled ‘Vantage: Journal of Thematic Analysis’. It invites research articles from varied disciplines and publishes high quality research papers. This bi-annual journal is published in the months of April and October. The journal does not have any article processing charges. The journal tries to enrich knowledge about a particular theme. The journal endeavours to contribute to the production of knowledge through the rigours of research and interdisciplinary dialogue around one theme, cutting across linguistic, social, cultural, institutional and geographical boundaries. It is a platform for multiple perspectives, enriching the existing body of knowledge. It hopes to bring together meaningful research and work done not only in major academic centers.but also in lesser-known, remote areas and institutions. It publishes original research papers, review articles, opinion pieces, and invited articles on a special theme, bringing together views from several vantage points.
